By now everyone knows that Ramsey Noauh is the real deal and that RMD is one of the biggest stars on the continent. The A-list at the moment are dominated by multiple -award winners, recognized in Nigeria, Africa and globally. But we think it’s more exciting to try and spot the next big actors, Nollywood’s superstars-in-the-making who will be on our screens for years to come. Here are three of the bright talents on the cusp of superstardom.
>Famous for his role in movies like Fatal Imagination, Sweet Tomorrow, Rivals, Two Brides And A Baby, Lonely Hearts, Alan Poza, Public Property, The Date, Being Single, and Blood In The Lagoon to mention a few Okey Uzoeshi is certainly one to look out for. With his seamless delivery and talent, Okey doesn’t just “play” characters; he becomes them. He’s believable and real. When you watch his movies, you don’t see Okey, you see the character he’s playing.
Fortunately, his talent doesn’t go unrecognized, in 2012 he received an AMAA nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the movie Two Brides and a Baby. Quite recently, he has featured in a number of productions by Africa Magic and Ebony Live. Okey has quite a number of movies in the works this year and we will be on the lookout for this star.
>Starring in Madam Sarah’s House – showing on EL – and playing the lead role in “A Soldier’s Story, Daniel K. Daniel (DKD) is identified with several critically acclaimed works. As the fast-rising Nollywood star constantly proves his talent, he often meanders between comedy, romance and commercial scores whose titles speak for themselves. Last year, DKD teamed up with Nollywood veteran – Liz Benson in “Mummy dearest” as an only son of a doting Nigerian mother. Daniel has been nominated for Best Actor in a Drama at the 2016 AMVCA awards for his exceptional role in “A Soldiers Story”; which by the way is a must-watch for every Nollywood fan.
>Kenneth Okolie is a delight to watch. The former model kicked off his acting career shortly after winning Mr. Nigeria. Kenneth has featured in movies like “True citizens”, “lonely heart”, “Desperate house girls” “Mrs somebody” and most recently “Husbands of Lagos”. Each time he has delivered great performances. Kenneth has a several new projects coming up in 2016 and we will be on the lookout for them.
